Worked example
Convert a recorded WAV to medium-quality MP3 at 192kbps for email. Keep WAV or FLAC when further editing is needed.
Understanding settings and results
- MP3/AAC/M4A use 96/192/320kbps; Opus uses 96/192/256kbps; OGG uses quality 3/6/9. WAV/FLAC do not use lossy quality levels.
- WAV is uncompressed PCM and is usually much larger than MP3.
Scope and limitations
- Converting formats cannot restore audio detail already lost in the source.
- Long recordings may need time for the background task to finish because server resources are limited.
Troubleshooting
- Try widely supported MP3 or WAV if playback fails.
- For a task that does not finish, keep its task ID and resubmit a smaller file.
Privacy and processing
Audio is uploaded and converted with ffmpeg. Daily usage is limited by IP address. Files and results are automatically cleaned up afterward.
