Worked example
For a typical website, try 16–20 characters with all four character types. If symbols are not accepted, disable them and increase length.
Understanding settings and results
- Longer passwords and more available characters generally increase the guessing space.
- Save generated passwords in a trusted password manager rather than a public document.
Scope and limitations
- Some older systems limit length or allowed symbols; follow the target website rules.
- Do not reuse the same password across accounts.
Troubleshooting
- If a website rejects a password, check for unsupported symbols or excessive length.
- Difficulty memorizing is not a reason to weaken a password; use password-manager autofill.
