About Finl Tools
Finl Tools is built and maintained by an independent development team, providing individuals, professionals and small teams with online tools and instructions you can verify.
Our purpose
Everyday work often involves PDF, image, media and other file formats. We bring common workflows into the browser and explain where each operation runs and what its limitations are.
Our aim is to make frequent tasks simple and focused, with clear settings, limits, privacy information and troubleshooting steps so you can decide whether a tool suits your files.
Available tools
The following tool categories are available free of charge:
- PDF tools: extract pages, merge, split by page, split along lines, compress, convert to images and edit content
- Image tools: images to PDF, image compression and image stitching
- Audio and video: convert audio, convert video and extract audio from video
- Command reference: Excel formulas, Linux commands, Python functions, Docker, regular expressions, HTTP and SQL
- Unit converter: timestamps, length, temperature, weight, area, volume, data and speed

Where processing happens
| Tool category | Main processing location | Details |
|---|---|---|
| JSON, codecs, passwords, units and QR codes | In your browser | Page scripts process your input; it is not uploaded to this site as a file. |
| Image compression and stitching | In your browser | Uses browser features such as Canvas. Images to PDF is an exception and requires an upload. |
| PDF, audio and video | On our server | Files are processed in temporary directories and removed under the expiry cleanup rules. |
| PDF OCR | Our server and third-party OCR | When OCR is enabled, rendered page images are sent to the configured OCR service. |
Each tool page describes its processing method and limitations. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Our principles
1. Respect privacy
Most text and conversion tools run in your browser. PDF and media operations that require server processing use temporary directories; OCR may also use third-party recognition services. See the processing scope and expiry rules in the Privacy Policy.
2. Keep tools simple
We aim for straightforward workflows: select a file, set options and download the result. No registration is required.
3. Keep improving
We use feedback to improve existing tools and add useful features.
How we maintain the instructions
We check settings, input limits and privacy information against the actual interface and processing flow. PDF compression, line splitting and image compression pages provide synthetic test files created by this site, actual outputs and test environments. A sample result does not predict results for all files.
When features or settings change, the corresponding instructions and examples need to be tested again. If results differ from the instructions, send the tool URL, settings and reproduction steps using sanitized data. Contact details are linked below.
Our tests also retain unsuccessful results, such as a compressed scanned PDF becoming larger after re-encoding. Articles state the input, settings, test environment and file sizes, and distinguish calculations from actual operations.
