Worked example
A 10-digit timestamp usually represents seconds and 13 digits usually milliseconds. Select a time zone and enter 2026-09-01 12:00:00 to obtain both values.
Understanding settings and results
- The Unix epoch is 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC.
- The same instant can display different dates in different time zones while retaining the same timestamp.
Scope and limitations
- Dates without time-zone information use the selected zone. Automatic unit detection only guesses from digit count; explicitly select seconds or milliseconds for precise conversion.
- Invalid dates and local times skipped or repeated by daylight saving are rejected. Use a known Unix timestamp when a local time is ambiguous.
Troubleshooting
- For a result off by 1000, check seconds versus milliseconds.
- For an 8-hour difference, check UTC versus Beijing time.
